RAMALLAH (PIC)– Abdunnaser Farwana head of studies and documentation unit at Palestinian Detainees and Ex-detainees Committee revealed that Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have arrested 1403 female Palestinians since September 2000 including 57 females who are currently imprisoned in Israeli jails.
Farwana added that the arrests affected all segments of women in terms of age and profession. 118 women of them were arrested during Jerusalem Intifada which broke out last October while 9 of them are injured he added.
The Palestinian female captives are exposed to physical and psychological torture during arrest and investigation. They are incarcerated in tiny dark rooms and cells and are subjected to harsh treatment and deprivation of their simplest humanitarian rights regardless of gender matters Farwana pointed out.
