Israel closes off occupied territories for Sukkot holiday

Saturday 15-October-2016

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Saturday evening closed off all the entrances to the occupied Palestinian territories on the occasion of the Jewish Sukkot holiday.
The closure is expected to remain in effect until Monday evening.
The occupation army announced that it would be closing off the West Bank and Gaza Strip barring Palestinian passage into 1948 Occupied Palestine for 48 hours beginning at 11:59 p.m. Saturday for the upcoming Sukkot holiday.
The Israeli army further claimed that it would make exceptions for medical emergencies and other “humanitarian cases” with the approval of the Defense Ministry’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the occupied territories.
A few days earlier the Israeli occupation army shut down the West Bank’s checkpoints on Yom Kippur the Jewish Day of Atonement and on Rosh Hashanah the Jewish New Year earlier this month.
Sukkot is a week-long holiday lasting from Sunday evening to the following Sunday.
