Israeli Prison Service (IPS) confiscated over the past few weeks thousands of books from Palestinian prisoners being held in the Hadarim prison.
The Palestinian prisoner Marwen Barghouthi who is being held in Hadarim prison told the lawyer Elias Sabbagh that nearly 3000 books were confiscated so far.
In this regard MK Yousef Jabareen (Joint List) called on Israeli security minister to immediately return the confiscated books.
Israeli minister claimed that the seized documents involved “security issues.”
MK Jabareen considered the measure as a reprisal decision that aims to keep prisoners “uneducated” by confiscating their university and academic books from their rooms.
