Haaretz newspaper correspondent Amos Harel has revealed that the Israeli army established a new “soft” military unit to influence enemy armies foreign media and public opinion locally and internationally to support Israel’s military actions.
This unit was founded at the beginning of the current year by the operations branch at the Israeli army’s central command and was named “the Center for Consciousness Operations” and its main mission is to influence the Western opinion in particular (the US and Europe) over Israel’s military activities in Palestinian territories and on the northern front (Lebanon).
This unit already started to work legally and diplomatically and through different media outlets to serve the purpose it was set up for.
Harel said that a senior intelligence officer was appointed to head this unit without mentioning his name.
