The Israeli police forces have intensified their presence in Occupied Jerusalem in preparation for Passover Holiday amid growing fears of Palestinian attacks.
According to Maariv website the reinforcements in Jerusalem come despite the sharp decline in the last two years in the number of Palestinian attacks carried out in the holy city with 41 attacks in the first quarter of 2016 17 in 2017 and only one in 2018.
The Israeli army on another front is preparing for the Great March of Return which will be launched in the Gaza Strip next week.
Israel’s Minister of Education Naftali Bennett said as quoted by Maariv “Rockets and tunnels are well-known threats to us but we should prepare for another scenario: the massive marches which will be launched toward the border fence with Israel.”
Bennet said that Gaza residents’ marches in border areas with Israel (1948 occupied Palestine) would pose many threats to the life of Israeli settlers living in settlements in the vicinity of the Gaza Strip.
