The Israeli occupation army has voiced fears that the West Bank and Jerusalem might witness a surge in violent confrontations with Palestinian citizens during the holy month of Ramadan (June).
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quoted a senior army officer as saying that the violent confrontations that took place in the villages of Nabi Saleh Silwad and Huwara and the death of Palestinians during them could lead to long months of hot summer.
He affirmed that the Israeli army made preparations to deal with any possible escalation of tensions and deployed hundreds of soldiers in many areas of the West Bank and Jerusalem as a prelude to laying siege to them and imposing movement restrictions.
