Israel forces Palestinian family to demolish their home

Sunday 1-September-2019

The Israeli authorities on Sunday forced a Palestinian family in ‘Ara village in the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories to demolish their own home.

Dalia Julani a mother of four said that she was forced to demolish her home following pressures by the Israeli authorities and after an Israeli court rejected an appeal filed by the family to freeze the demolition order.

Julani said that she had to demolish the house to avoid paying the demolition costs to the Israeli municipality.

She added that her family including her husband and four children have become homeless.

Julani and her family had lived in rented apartments for years before they could buy a land and build a house on it and now all that is gone.

Israel forces Palestinian family to demolish their home

Sunday 10-March-2019

Israel’s Jerusalem municipality on Saturday ordered a Palestinian family in Jabal al-Mukabber village to demolish their own home.

Ali Ja’abis told Quds Press that the municipality ordered his sister Elham Ja’abis and her family to demolish their home under the pretext of being unlicensed.

Ja’abis affirmed that his sister and her family had paid a large fine for the building permit; however the Israeli authorities gave them a time limit until Sunday 10 March to demolish the house. Otherwise the municipality will carry out the demolition and force them to pay 30000 NIS (about $8300).

Ja’abis said that his sister’s 9-member family have been living in the house which covers an area of 130 square meters for a year and a half.

The Israeli municipality in Occupied Jerusalem in February 2019 forced seven Palestinians to demolish their own homes or shops for allegedly lacking the necessary building licenses.
