The Israeli occupation authorities on Sunday embarked on converting a military checkpoint in the Old City of al-Khalil into a crossing further restricting the Palestinian citizens’ movement.
Head of al-Khalil Rehabilitation Committee Emad Hamdan described the Israeli move as “very dangerous” since it means more restrictions on the movement of al-Khalil residents.
Al-Khalil municipality condemned Israel’s new policy of turning temporary checkpoints in the Old City into permanent border crossing points.
It added that the new measures fall in line with Israel’s thinly-veiled plan to annex the West Bank.
