An investigation by Haaretz Hebrew newspaper on Thursday showed that Regavim organization which was founded in 2006 and has been fighting alleged “illegal” Arab construction receives millions of shekels from several West Bank settlement councils funded by taxpayers.
Regavim one of the most prominent right-wing groups in Israel today. A Haaretz investigative report showed that the nonprofit which deals primarily with court petitions against Palestinians and works on evicting Palestinians from their lands got millions of shekels of public funds.
Regavim focuses on legal battles against allegedly illegal Arab construction in the West Bank Galilee and Negev. For example it is leading the legal battle to evacuate the Palestinian villages of Sussia in al-Khalil hills.
Haartez also highlighted the role of MK Betzalal Smotrich who was one of Regavim’s leading activists before he was elected to the Knesset in collecting public funds for the benefit of the organization.
