The Israeli occupation forces at daybreak Sunday have tightened grip on Azzun town east of the northern West Bank province of Qalqilya blocking Palestinians’ free movement.
Local sources told the Palestinian Information Center that the occupation army shut the barrier gates at the main entrances to Azzun town and sealed off all thoroughfares before Palestinian civilians as they attempted to leave the town.
The blockade has been upheld by the Israeli forces for the second day running as part of a collective punishment tactic imposed on the locals following clashes with Palestinian anti-occupation protesters.
Azzun is engulfed with three Israeli settlements illegally built on Palestinian land. Swing gates and cement roadblocks have also been frequently set up by the occupation army on the main access roads to the town.
