Israeli army bombs resistance sites in Gaza

Sunday 2-January-2022

The Israeli occupation army carried out aerial and artillery attacks on two Palestinian resistance sites in different areas of the Gaza Strip after midnight on Sunday.

A reporter for the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) said that Israeli warplanes bombed a resistance site in the west of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza with about 10 missiles.

He added that no one was injured in the air raid that caused a resounding explosion.

There was no information if nearby homes sustained damage.

Later the Israeli artillery bombed an observation point in Beit Lahia in northern Gaza with no reported casualties.

The Hebrew media on Saturday evening said that the Israeli government decided to respond to two rockets from Gaza that landed off the shores of Tel Aviv earlier in the day.

“There will be a response. This is a serious and unacceptable event. The last word has not been said” a military official told Israel’s Kan channel.

In a related incident Israeli gunboats fired last night a number of flares that lit up the sky over the waters and shores of as-Sudaniya area in Gaza City and Beit Lahia amid military overflights.

Earlier in the evening gunboats also opened machinegun fire at fishing boats during their presence off the shore of the Sheikh Ajlin area in the south of Gaza.
