Israeli army destroys homes of two prisoners in Silat al-Harithiya

Tuesday 8-March-2022

The Israeli occupation army stormed after midnight on Tuesday Silat al-Harithiya village in western Jenin and destroyed two homes belonging to prisoners and their families.

According to local sources a large number of Israeli military and border soldiers aboard 150 vehicles including bulldozers stormed the village and raided the homes of three prisoners from the family of Jaradat.

Later Israeli forces detonated the house of prisoner Mohamed Jaradat while bulldozers embarked on demolishing the apartment of prisoner Ghaith Jaradat.

Consequently violent clashes broke out between Israeli troops and local youths in the village.

Medical sources said that eight young men suffered from different injuries and many others from their exposure to tear gas during the events.

On December 20 2021 the Israeli army notified families of five prisoners from the village of its intent to demolish their homes as a mass punitive measure against them after their relatives were accused of carrying out in the same month a shooting operation that killed a Jewish settler and injured two others in a nearby area.

The Israeli army had already demolished a house belonging to one of the prisoners last month.
