An Israeli army spokesman in a statement on Saturday unveiled the launch of a new battalion assigned to take photos of the Palestinians participating in anti-Israel demonstrations especially Friday demonstrations.
He said that the battalion was established to identify the Palestinian demonstrators who throw stones and clash with the Israeli soldiers adding that the photos and videos taken are later used to arrest these demonstrators.
The spokesman said that based on this process soldiers were able to film 600 Palestinian demonstrators and arrest 200 of them in the first half of 2017 in different areas.
The statement noted that the pictures taken by this battalion’s members are “accurate and sharp” and could be used as evidence in Israeli courts.
