Israeli army insists on demolishing Abu Shukhaydam’s home

Monday 3-January-2022

The Israeli occupation army on Sunday issued a renewed demolition order for the home of martyr Fadi Abu Shukhaydam in Shuafat refugee camp east Jerusalem.

On November 21 Abu Shukhaydam opened fire at settlers and officers in the alleyways of the Old City killing one and injuring four others two of them seriously. Police officers returned fire and killed him on the scene.

The new order rejected an objection filed by the Israeli human rights group HaMoked on behalf of Abu Shukhaydam’s family against a military demolition decision issued on December 26 ordering the demolition of the house.

The Israeli army gave the family until next Thursday to file an appeal with the Israeli high court of justice against the decision.

On December 7 Israeli forces stormed the house of Abu Shukhaydam and took its measurements as a prelude to demolishing it.
