Israeli authorities force Palestinian to demolish his home in Taibeh

Wednesday 26-May-2021

The Israeli authorities on Wednesday forced a Palestinian from Al-Taybeh in the 1948 occupied territories to demolish his house under construction claiming that it was an unlicensed building.

Local sources reported that Nabil Amr was forced to raze his house which is still under construction to avoid incurring exorbitant demolition expenses and fines.

The Israeli authorities continue to demolish Arab establishments and homes inside the 1948 occupied lands despite the recent announcement of a freeze on the amendment of Article 116 A in the Planning and Building Law. It was stated that it would freeze the demolition of thousands of Arab homes for two years allowing them to be licensed and blocking their demolishing.

In a separate development settlers seized an old building in Rashaida village east of Bethlehem and turned it into a settlement outpost.

Fawaz Al-Rashaida the head of Al-Rashaida Village Council said in press statements that a group of settlers had seized an old building with a total area of 400 square meters. The building was previously used as a headquarters for the Jordanian Badia Army located in the Rajm Al-Naqa area.

Rashaida pointed out that this area is vital and pastoral and very close to the village and is classified as a natural reserve and that the Israeli occupation is preventing Palestinians from reaching it.
