Israeli authorities okay construction of 300 settlement units

Wednesday 18-October-2017

The Israeli occupation authorities gave a green light for the construction of 300 new settlement units in the central West Bank province of Ramallah.

Israel’s Channel 7 reported that Israeli authorities approved the construction of 300 settlement units in the illegal settlement of Beit El fulfilling a promise that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had made.

Shai Alon head of the Beit El Settlement Council expressed hope that these 300 units would be the opening for additional units. “As they build in Rishon Letzion Kfar Saba and Ra’anana so should we build in Beit El Ofra and Efrat” Alon said.

Israel’s Housing Minister Yoav Galant said such a historic marketing in Beit El is another embodiment of the ongoing fortification of Zionism vowing to increase settlement construction across the occupied Palestinian territories including in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

Responding to Tuesday’s approval the Peace Now settler watchdog said that the Israeli government had gone wild in approving plans deep in the occupied West Bank.

On Monday the occupation authorities approved the construction of 31 settlement units in al-Khalil province in the first such move since 2002.

Head of the Maps Department at the Arab Studies Society Khalil Tufakji warned of Israeli intents to resettle one million Israelis on Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank by 2020.
