The Israeli occupation municipality’s bulldozers at noontime Tuesday knocked down the foundations of the al-Mintar Mosque in Sour Baher town to the southeast of Occupied Jerusalem under the pretext of unlicensed construction.
Palestinian local Jihad Atoun said Israeli municipal crews escorted by special army units stormed Wad al-Hums neighborhood in the town and knocked down the foundations of al-Mintar Mosque which has been under construction.
The mosque covers an area of 200 meters and was built at an estimated budget of up to 150000 shekels.
Speaking with the PIC head of the Supreme Islamic Committee Dr. Ekrema Sabri slammed the move which he said makes part of an underway Israeli war against Islam.
He spoke out against the swift upsurge in Israel’s demolition procedures across the occupied Palestinian territories dubbing them “illegitimate” and “immoral” practices.
“The demolition of al-Mintar Mosque stems from a racist policy perpetrated by the occupation municipality under the instructions of Nir Barkat (the Israeli mayor of Jerusalem) who has threatened to reduce thousands of Palestinian homes in Occupied Jerusalem to rubble” Dr. Sabri further stated.
