Jerusalemite citizens on Sunday confronted Israelibulldozers and police forces in an attempt to prevent them from razing swathsof lands belonging to them in the Palestinian neighborhood of Wadi Rababa inSilwan district south of the Aqsa Mosque in the occupied holy city.
Local official Khaled Abu Tayeh who is a member of theSilwan land defense committee said that bulldozers escorted by police forcesstormed Wadi Rababa to bulldoze Palestinian-owned agricultural lands.
Abu Tayeh added that the citizens stood in front of thebulldozers but police forces attacked them and expelled them from the area.
Video footage recorded by local residents showed bulldozersleveling swaths of lands and uprooting olive trees in Wadi Rababa under policeprotection.
Abu Tayeh affirmed that the Israeli occupation authorityplans to seize the area in order to carry out a project for Jewish settlers.
