Israeli court extends administrative detention of MP Khaled Tafesh

Wednesday 2-February-2022

An Israeli military court in Ofer jail on Tuesday extended the administrative detention of Palestinian lawmaker Khaled Tafesh for an additional three months.

This was the fourth time the administrative detention of MP Tafesh was extended since the Israeli occupation forces kidnaped him from his home on December 8 2020.

MP Tafesh 58 had been detained and jailed several times before. He is a senior Hamas official in Bethlehem and one of the Palestinians that were exiled to Marj al-Zohour in southern Lebanon in the early 1990s.

Administrative detention is incarceration without trial or charge and is widely used by Israel against the Palestinians solely at the pretext that a person plans to commit a future offense. It has no time limit and it is based on alleged secret files.
