Israeli court extends administrative detention of Mamdouh Berri

Monday 22-March-2021

An Israeli military court on Sunday extended the administrative detention of Palestinian prisoner Mamdouh Berri from Sanniriya town in Qalqilya for the third consecutive time.

According to Asra Media Office the court extended Berri’s detention administratively for six months.

Berri was arrested on March 23 2020 and soon later the Israeli occupation authority decided to administratively jail him with no indictment or trial at the pretext that there was a secret file against him.

Administrative detention is an arbitrary procedure that allows the Israeli army to hold Palestinian prisoners indefinitely on secret information without charging them or allowing them to stand trial.

There are 430 administrative detainees including three women in Israeli jails.
