Wednesday 25-January-2012

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (PIC)– The Israeli Magistrate Court in occupied Jerusalem has extended the detention of kidnapped MP Mohammed Totah and former Jerusalem minister Khaled Abu Arafa for six days.

Human rights sources said that the court ruled on Tuesday night that both officials would be held until next Sunday at the request of the Israeli military prosecution for further interrogation.

The sources said that both officials are held in the Maskobeh detention center and are charged with “illegal residence” in occupied Jerusalem and violation of an Israeli deportation decision.

An Israeli special force kidnapped both officials from the Red Cross offices in occupied Jerusalem on Monday. Totah and Abu Arafa sought refuge in the offices 19 months ago in rejection of their banishment decision.

In a similar development sources in the office of Palestinian parliament speaker Dr. Aziz Dweik said that he would appear in court on Wednesday to endorse his six months administrative detention order ruling out the possibility that the court would respond to his lawyer’s request to set him free on the grounds of his illegal detention.
