Israeli court okays demolition of prisoner’s home in W. Bank

Thursday 7-April-2022

The Israeli high court of justice approved last night the demolition of Palestinian prisoner Omar Jaradat’s house in Silat al-Harithiya town west of Jenin in the occupied West Bank.

The Jaradat family was notified of the decision after the court rejected a petition submitted by human rights groups against the measure.

Omar has been in prison along with his brothers Ghaith and Montaser and his mother Itaf Jaradat since December 2021.

Omar and Ghaith have been accused of carrying out a shooting operation that killed last December an extremist Jewish settler and wounded two others near the evacuated site of Homesh settlement and the Jenin-Nablus road.

According to the Hebrew website 0404 prisoner Omar did not participate in the shooting operation but the Israeli court insisted on accusing him of being fully involved in the incident.

On December 20 2021 the Israeli occupation army notified four Palestinian families in Silat al-Harithiya of its intent to demolish their homes as a punitive measure after five of their relatives were charged with involvement in the shooting incident.

The Israeli army already started to demolish homes of these families in the town in recent months.
