The Israeli District Court in Jerusalem released on Monday the governor of occupied Jerusalem Adnan Ghaith and placed him under house arrest for seven days rights sources reported.
According to the PA committee for prisoners’ affairs attorney Mohammad Mahmoud Ghaith’s release was postponed until later Monday after the prosecutor had asked the court to keep him in detention pending an appeal to the Israeli High Court.
Ghaith was placed under house arrest for seven days and ordered to pay 20000 Israeli shekels as a fine Mahmoud added.
Ghaith was detained in occupied Jerusalem on Saturday after Israeli Special Forces intercepted his car in Beit Hanina neighborhood north of the city.
His detention was extended on Sunday for three days before the order was appealed by his lawyer on Monday.
