Israeli supreme court refused on Thursday an appeal submitted by Isra Jaabis 32 a mother of a baby child and a resident of Jabal al-Mukkaber neighborhood of occupied Jerusalem to have an early release on health grounds.
Jaabis’ family affirmed that the court refused their daughter’s appeal despite her very difficult health condition and her dire need to medical treatment.
The family declared intention to appeal now to the High Court to at least allow a specialized surgeon and psychiatrist to treat her in prison.
Jaabis was sentenced in November 2016 to serve 11 years in prison after she was charged with attempting to blow up an Israeli army checkpoint outside Jerusalem in October 2015.
Jaabis who is married to a Palestinian from Jericho had a gas cylinder in her car when it blew up apparently accidently before she had arrived at the checkpoint to the east of Jerusalem.
Her family said at the time that she was moving her stuff from Jericho to a new place in Jerusalem when a gas cylinder she had in the car blew up by accident. The army however decided otherwise and said Jaabis was intending to blow up the checkpoint.
Meanwhile the Israeli military court extended on Thursday the detention of two Palestinian minors shot and injured two days earlier during an alleged stabbing attack south of Nablus in the West Bank.
