RAMALLAH (PIC)– The Israeli military court decided on Monday evening against releasing detained Islamic Jihad leader Sheikh Khader Adnan who has been on hunger strike for 58 days.
Lawyer Jawad Bulous said that the verdict was expected “based on our bitter past experiences with military courts” adding “We always go to military courts without any hope”.
There is no iota of justice in this verdict that did not take into consideration the health condition of the detainee Adnan who is facing death Bulous said.
Qaddoura Fares the head of the Palestinian prisoner’s association described the ruling as “oppressive” adding that the international organizations should put an end to Israel’s violations and save the Palestinian prisoners especially Adnan who is facing death.
Meanwhile three Palestinian citizens were hit with rubber coated bullets while tens were treated for breathing difficulty when they gathered in front of Ofer jail to protest the continued detention of Adnan.
Three buses loaded with 150 students from Bir Zeit University arrived to the protest rally and were met with gunshots and teargas as soon as they arrived. Adnan is a post graduate student in Bir Zeit.
Meanwhile school students went on marches in Arraba village south west of Jenin on Monday for the second day in solidarity with Adnan.
The popular committee in solidarity with Adnan organized a sit-in in front of the Red Cross office in Jenin demanding his immediate release.
Adnan’s father held the Israeli occupation authority fully responsible for the life of his son saying that Adnan’s hunger strike was in defense of all Palestinian prisoners.
In another related development Palestinian institution catering for affairs of prisoners called for a day in solidarity with Adnan on Wednesday.
They said that Wednesday would be a national day in face of administrative detention and all Palestinians are invited to go on hunger strike on that day and to sit in before Red Cross offices in all Palestinian land.
