Israeli court rejects appeal against closing shops in Jerusalem

Friday 20-October-2017

Israeli Supreme Court rejected an appeal filed by the Association for Civil Rights in Israel last May against the Israeli policy of closing commercial shops in Occupied Jerusalem following clashes.

Walla Hebrew news website reported that the appeal was submitted to court by the Association on behalf of five shop owners in the city. The closure of these shops was done for alleged security reasons and sometimes involved violence.

It was stated in the appeal that the policy of closing shops started in the wake of the clashes that erupted in Jerusalem after the murder of the Jerusalemite teen Mohammad Abu Khedair in summer 2014. The boy was burnt alive by a gang of Jewish settlers.
