Israeli court sentences Raed Salah to 28 months in jail

Monday 10-February-2020

An Israeli court on Monday sentenced Sheikh Raed Salah the head of the northern branch of the Islamic Movement to 28 months in prison.

The court ruling includes 11 months Sheikh Salah had served which means he will spend another 17 months in Israeli jail. The execution of the ruling has been frozen until 25 March.

Dozens of Palestinian citizens activists and notables marched outside the Israeli court to show solidarity with sheikh Salah and his family.

The Israeli court convicted sheikh Salah on charges of “inciting violence” and supporting a “terrorist organization”.

On 24 November 2019 an Israeli court accused Salah of “inciting terror” in a series of speeches he made after an anti-occupation attack in July 2017 that killed two Israeli police officers at al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Occupied Jerusalem.
