Israeli crackdowns against Palestinians on rise across West Bank

Tuesday 31-January-2017

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stormed the southern West Bank province of al-Khalil and cracked down on Palestinian civilians.

Reporting from al-Khalil a PIC news correspondent said four Israeli military jeeps and a truck rolled into al-Dahdah area and provocatively inspected Palestinians’ IDs.

The occupation troops further raked through the environs of the homes of two slain resistance fighters—Amer Abu Eisha and Abdullah al-Qawasmi—before they headed to the Quds Square near the northern entrance to al-Khalil.

Palestinian Authority (PA) troops showed up at the scene and prevented the Palestinian anti-occupation protesters from responding to the assault.

At the same time Israeli settlers escorted by army troops closed off the Nablus-Jerusalem thoroughfare.

Hundreds of Palestinian vehicles and passengers lined up at the Hawara checkpoint in southern Nablus after Israeli settlers sealed it off.

Israeli soldiers further cordoned off the Hawara Street with flying checkpoints.

Hawara mayor Nasser al-Hawari warned the locals against projected aggressions by the Israeli settlers and forces in the area.

He urged the Palestinians to join forces and stand on guard to such Israeli aggressions.
