Israeli government to approve ‘Trump Settlement’ in Golan

Saturday 13-June-2020

The Israeli government is set to approve on Sunday a new settlement in the Golan Heights named after US president Donald Trump one year after announcing plans to establish it.

Israel’s Walla website reported that the new settlement will be built in appreciation of Trump’s recognition of Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights and his support for Israel including the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Last year’s announcement did not include a specific plan on how to fund the new settlement or establish it. On Sunday a more specific plan will be presented to the government according to Walla.

The move comes two days after Trump announced sanctions on the International Criminal Court over war crimes probes.
