Israeli jailors batter representatives of Palestinian female prisoners

Wednesday 2-May-2007

TULKARM (PIC)– The Israeli wardens in the Hasharon jail have assaulted and battered three Palestinian female prisoners for asking for an improvement in the prisoners’ incarcerations conditions.

Legal sources in the Nafha society defending human and prisoners’ rights said that the Hasharon jailors beat up Ahlam Al-Tamimi serving 16 life sentences Sana Shihade serving 3 life sentences and Taghrid Al-Saadi serving 6 years and then isolated them in Jalama prison.

They pointed out that the three were the female representatives in Hasharon and are entitled to negotiate with the prison authority over prisoners’ conditions.

The legal sources said that the three were held in harsh imprisonment conditions in Jalama other than being in solitary confinement and added that the measure was taken after the three presented a memo demanding improvement of the prisoners’ incarceration conditions.

The society denounced the inhuman practices against the captives and said it would take legal action against the Israeli prisons authority for its maltreatment of prisoners in general and the female ones in particular.
