Israeli military court sentences MP Yousef to four and a half years

RAMALLAH (PIC)– The Israeli military court in the Ofer prison near Ramallah sentenced on Sunday MP Hassan Yousef a leading figure of Hamas-affiliated change and reform parliamentary bloc to four and a half years.

The Israeli military prosecutor the representative of Israeli intelligence had filed an indictment of three items against Yousef a member of the PLC alleging that he was the leader of Hamas in the West Bank and its official spokesman and that he was providing logistic assistance and services to the Movement through his speeches and participation in its festivals and marches in the West Bank’s towns.

Yousef denied the charges leveled against him.

After it had asked court last Tuesday to pass a verdict of 10-year-improsnmenet term against Yousef on charges of serious security violations the military prosecution brought to court more than 20 witnesses to testify against him most of them were Israeli intelligence and police officers. 

Yousef 54 was kidnapped by the IOF troops on the 25th of September 2005 within a campaign involving more than 400 cadres of Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
