OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (PIC)– The Israeli transportation minister Yisrael Katz on Saturday called for a complete halt to the transfer of foodstuffs and raw materials to the Gaza Strip until Palestinian resistance frees the captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.
He told the Hebrew radio that strong action should be taken against Palestinian “terrorist heads”.
The Israeli leaders have recently escalated threats against the beleaguered Gaza Strip which has been under siege for almost three years.
The Israeli tight control over commercial traffic in and out of the Strip has led to a severe economic recession dwindling job opportunities and steep decline in level of livelihood.
Poverty rate in Gaza is one of the highest in the world while getting out of the Strip for medical treatment or education was only possible after long periods of wait.
