Thursday 9-February-2017

Israeli municipality in occupied Jerusalem approved Wednesday evening the construction of 46 new settlement units in Gilo settlement and 112 housing units in Ramat Shlomo Haaretz Hebrew newspaper revealed.

The announcement came as hundreds of new settlement units were approved since US President Donald Trump was sworn into office last month.

Haaretz quoted occupied Jerusalem’s deputy mayor Meir Turgeman as claiming that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu opposes building in controversial Givat Hamatos east of occupied Jerusalem despite statements by Netanyahu there are no more restrictions on construction around the city.

Earlier last month Netanyahu promised his far-right government that he would lift all restrictions on settlement construction in occupied east Jerusalem.
