The Israeli municipality of Occupied Jerusalem under the pressure of Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu canceled a plan to endorse the construction of 390 housing units in the holy city.
Israeli channel 2 quoted the municipality’s Planning and Building Committee head Meir Turgeman as saying on Wednesday that a plan to build 390 housing units was canceled.
He said that Netanyahu justified his demand by saying he did not want to give John Kerry the US Secretary of State any reason to toughen his stance regarding the Middle East in his speech scheduled for later today.
The UN Security Council issued a resolution earlier this week condemning all Israeli settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory as illegal.
