Tuesday 9-September-2014

BEIT LAHIA (PIC)– Israeli navy forces chased and arrested four Palestinian fishermen off the coast of Beit Lahia to the north of Gaza Strip on Tuesday morning.

Local news agency SAFA quoted Nizar Ayyash the chief of the fishermen syndicate in Gaza as saying that Israeli navy soldiers encircled two small fishing boats and kidnapped four fishermen all of one family who were on board.

The Israeli forces had detained two other Palestinian fishermen sailing aboard a small fishing boat off the same area a few days ago.

This is the fourth Israeli violation of the truce agreement that went into effect late last month.

GAZA (PIC)– The fisheries department at the ministry of agriculture said on Monday that the Israeli navy boats intercepted Palestinian fishing boats and arrested four fishermen off the coast of Gaza.

The ministry’s statement said that Israeli gunboats intercepted two fishing boats one off the Gaza harbor and the second off the northern coast while fishing at a distance of two nautical miles.

It said that the Israeli navy detained the fishermen and their boats and held the Israeli occupation authority responsible for their lives.

The ministry asked the world community to adopt daring stands against the Israeli constant harassment of Palestinian fishermen and to protect them in face of such practices.
