Israeli navy arrests two Gazan fishermen confiscates their boats

Monday 8-January-2018

The Israeli navy on Monday arrested two Palestinian fishermen off the northern Gaza Strip shore and transferred them to Ashdod port.

Head of the fishermen committee at the Union of Agricultural Work Committees Zakaria Baker told the PIC that the Israeli navy arrested Jihad Murad 25 and Mustafa Murad 18 while they were fishing off northern Gaza shore and confiscated their boats.

Baker added that the Israeli gunboats during the morning hours opened fire at Palestinian fishing boats in northern Gaza for no apparent reason but no damages were reported.

He called on the international community to urgently intervene to put an end to the Israeli arrests and shootings targeting almost on a daily basis the Palestinian fishermen and their source of livelihood.
