Israeli navy attacks Gaza fishermen with machinegun

Sunday 1-January-2017

The Israeli occupation navy on Sunday morning opened machinegun fire on Palestinian fishermen sailing off northern Gaza shore.

A PIC news correspondent quoted local fishermen as stating that Israeli gunboats forced them to go ashore without explaining the reasons for the move.

Palestinian fishermen in the blockaded Gaza Strip have been the permanent targets of Israeli machinegun fire despite the fact that they have been setting sail within the authorized six-nautical-mile zone.

Israeli navy attacks Gaza fishermen with machinegun

Thursday 8-December-2016

Israeli navy gunboats on Thursday morning attacked Palestinian fishermen sailing off Gaza’s northern coast with heavy spates of machinegun fire.

A PIC news reporter said the Israeli gunboats cordoned off Palestinian fishing boats at sea and targeted the fishermen with randomly-unleashed barrages of gunfire.

No injuries were reported in the attack.

Fishing is the sole source of income for 4000 Palestinian fishermen in the blockaded Gaza Strip.

Israel allows Gazans to set sail within a three-nautical-mile zone only which does not meet the needs of the fishermen whose survival and their families largely hinges on fishing.
