Israel’s deputy minister of war Eli Ben-Dahan on Monday expressed his support for Catalonia’s independence from Spain. A similar stand has been adopted by the Israeli government regarding Kurdistan’s independence from Iraq.
Ben-Dahan who is a member of the right-wing “Jewish Home” party in statements published by the Hebrew website “0404” accused Spain of hypocrisy claiming that for many years it demanded that Palestinians be given all their rights but today it does not allow the Catalans to hold a referendum on independence.
Catalonia’s regional government on Monday announced that 90.9% of the Catalans who voted in the referendum said yes while 7.87% of the voters rejected independence.
