Israeli police arrest 120 Jerusalemites for protesting Aqsa excavations

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (PIC)– Israeli occupation police continued on Tuesday-Wednesday arresting more Palestinian Jerusalemites for protesting the Israeli excavations at the holy Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.

The police announced on Tuesday the arrest of 50 Palestinian citizens on charges of participating in protest demos against the diggings. It had announced two days earlier the arrest of 71 others for the same reason. They will stand trial for participation in alleged “riots”.

On Wednesday morning occupation police arrested two Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem claiming they were throwing stones at a police car.

The occupation police had also rounded up 625 Palestinian workers over the past three days for residing in the green line (Palestinian lands occupied in 1948) without permit according to the Hebrew radio.

The broadcast quoted an IOF spokesman as saying that 13 Palestinians were arrested at an early hour Wednesday in various West Bank areas. It added that the arrested were captured in Tulkarm Nablus Al-Khalil and Ramallah for alleged affiliation with resistance factions.

He said that an IOF unit came under fire attack in Nablus city and added that a number of explosive devices were found near Jenin.

Locals in Marda village north of Salfit said that IOF soldiers arrested a Najah University student at a roadblock near the village.

In Nablus local sources reported that IOF troops tightened their security measures around the city blocked travel of civilians through Hawara and Bathan barriers and
at Beit Eiba barrier they refused to allow passage of less than 35-year-old youths.

Foot patrols advanced into the Old City in Nablus and into nearby Ein Beit Al-Ma and Balata refugee camps.

IOF troops also arrested three Palestinians in Tulkarm and Noor Shams refugee camps at dawn Wednesday including an alleged member in Islamic Jihad Movement.

Three other Palestinians were kidnapped by IOF soldiers at dawn Wednesday in Beit Uwa village Al-Khalil district.
