Israeli police arrest two Palestinian youths in Jerusalem

Thursday 30-July-2020

The Israeli police on Wednesday evening arrested two Palestinian youths near Al-Asbat Gate in Jerusalem and sealed off some areas in the city.

Local sources said that the Israeli police kidnapped Mohammed Zaghir and Mohammed Najib at al-Asbat Gate one of al-Aqsa Mosque’s main doors.

Right after the incident the police closed the roads leading to al-Maghareba Gate and Silwan town.

Arrests closures and tight movement restrictions have been intensified over the past two days in Jerusalem as a large number of Jewish settlers plan to carry out mass break-ins into al-Aqsa Mosque and al-Buraq Wall area on Wednesday to mark the Tisha B’Av or the Destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem.

Meanwhile many Jerusalemite activists have called on the Palestinians to intensify their presence in al-Aqsa Mosque to protect the holy site and thwart the settler break-in.
