The Israeli police arrested two Palestinian youths from the city of Taybeh within the Green Line at dawn Tuesday for protesting against the Israeli attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque and worshipers over the past few days.
Local sources said that Israeli police suppressed a vigil organized by local residents in the city in solidarity with Palestinian worshipers at Al-Aqsa which led to the outbreak of violent clashes.
Two Palestinians including a 16-year-old boy were detained during the clashes.
Since the start of April 19 Palestinians were shot and killed by Israeli forces in separate incidents while dozens were detained across the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.
Tension has been growing in Al-Aqsa Mosque over the past few days after Jewish settler groups intensified their break-ins into the holy site during the holy month of Ramadan in flagrant provocation to Palestinians.
