Violent clashes broke out on Saturday evening between Palestinian youths and the Israeli occupation police in Bab al-Amud area in the Old City of Jerusalem.
According to local sources the clashes started after the Israeli police intensified their presence in the area and placed barriers on both sides of Bab al-Amud on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.
Four Palestinian young men were reportedly assaulted and detained during the events in the area.
Meanwhile Israeli police forces stormed Ein al-Luza neighborhood in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan and fired rubber bullets and stun grenades at local youths.
About 50000 Muslim worshipers observed the nighttime Isha and Tarawih prayers at the Aqsa Mosque on the first day of Ramadan.
The Muslim worshipers came from different areas of the West Bank Jerusalem and 1948 occupied Palestine despite the Israeli police restrictions imposed on their entry to the Islamic holy site.
