The Israeli police on Friday violently quelled a peaceful demonstration near Jerusalem against Khan al-Ahmar demolition.
The demonstrators raised Palestinian flags and chanted angry slogans condemning the Israeli plan to demolish the Bedouin village and calling for an end to Israel’s attempts to steal Palestinian lands in favor of settlement projects.
Local sources said that the Israeli police prevented the demonstrators from advancing toward the main road adjacent to the village and threatened to arrest them.
The Israeli police since the early morning hours have installed several military checkpoints on the roads leading to Khan al-Ahmar stopped the Palestinian vehicles passing on these roads and scrutinized the passengers’ IDs.
