Israeli police forces on Thursday intercepted Palestinian citizens participating in a peaceful foot march that started a few days ago from Haifa city north of the 1948 occupied lands and prevented them from heading to the Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
“The Israeli police had asked the participants in the march to stop but when we reached the outskirts of Jerusalem city the police forces intercepted us and handed us an order demanding us not to complete the march at the pretext that the activity was connected with the Islamic Movement” coordinator of the march Sindibad Taha told Quds Press.
The order was issued by the police chief in Occupied Jerusalem and stated that the march was organized by the banned Islamic Movement which he described as a “terror” group.
Taha however stated that the march was not organized by any political party or group and was staged by a group of young people from Haifa city with the aim of sending a message to the Arab and Islamic worlds urging them to assume their responsibilities towards the endangered Aqsa Mosque.
“Although the march was prevented from reaching Jerusalem we will come back again next year and the year after until we realize our goals and pray at the Aqsa Mosque” he said.
The march was organized for the third consecutive year on the occasion of the Palestinian Nakba (catastrophe) anniversary and is considered an annual event aimed at strengthening the Palestinian ties with Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque.
