The Palestinian Minister of Religious Affairs slammed on Wednesday the Israeli police for cutting wires of loudspeakers while the call for prayers was about to be made at Khan al-Ahmar village.
Minister of Religious Affairs Yousef Id’is dubbed the police act a violation of the right of Muslims at Khan al-Ahmar to the freedom of worship and to hear the call to their daily prayers typical of the Muslim faith.
He said cutting the wires to mute the sound of the Muslim call to prayer is another proof of Israel’s simmering breaches of religious freedoms across the occupied Palestinian territories.
The minister referred to Israel’s intent to install an electric elevator at the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil and its ceaseless Judaization schemes at Jerusalem’s holy al-Aqsa Mosque as other signs of its attempt to impose a new fait accompli at holy places of worship.
Id’is called on the human rights organizations and the international community to take urgent action in response to such Israeli violations against the Palestinian land people and holy sites.
Israeli police often ban the Muslim call to prayers across the occupied Palestinian territories following complaints by Israeli settlers and fanatic rabbis that the calls disturb them.
