Israeli police detained on Monday afternoon a guard at al-Aqsa Mosque raising tension in the compound.
Police arrested Ahmad Oweis an Al-Aqsa guard from inside the mosque compound Jerusalem’s Religious Endowments Authority said in a brief statement.
Oweis was taken to Qashla police station for investigation the sources added.
Tension at Al-Aqsa has mounted over the past few days after Israeli police closed Bab al-Rahma and arrested dozens of Palestinian activists.
