A Jerusalemite woman suffered hand injuries when Israeli police suppressed Sunday afternoon a peaceful protest near Bab al-Amoud in occupied Jerusalem.
Dozens participated in the event organized in solidarity with the female injured prisoner Israa Jaabis who was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
Journalists were prevented from covering the attack on the peaceful event PIC reporter affirmed.
Palestinian prisoner Israa Jaabis 32 was sentenced to 11 years in prison last November 2017 by an Israeli court in Occupied Jerusalem.
Jaabis who is a resident of Jabal Mukabber in east Jerusalem was severely injured on October 10 2015 after a fire accidently broke out in her car. She was 500 meters away from an Israeli military checkpoint when a gas cylinder used in cooking burst into flames in the back seat of her car.
Jaabis’ airbag went off in the front seat of the car. The Israeli authorities exploited the incident and accused her of attempting to detonate a car bomb especially since an Israeli police officer was injured when the car fire broke out.
However Jaabis was severely burned especially on her face and hands. Eight of her fingers were amputated when she was hospitalized. She and her family repeatedly stated that she was carrying the gas cylinder to a new home she just moved in.
In order to preserve her Jerusalem residency she had recently rented a new apartment and had been moving furniture in her car for days.
