The Israeli occupation police on Wednesday kidnaped Sheikh Najeh Bakirat deputy director of the Islamic Awqaf in Jerusalem.
His daughter Fatima Bakirat said on her Facebook page that police officers kidnaped her father from the Aqsa Mosque’s Silsila Gate and took him to the Moskobiya detention center in the holy city.
Sheikh Bakirat who is also head of the Aqsa Academy for Science and Heritage is exposed to systematic persecution at the hand of the Israeli police. He had been detained and banished from the Aqsa Mosque many times before.
Meanwhile the Israeli police yesterday evening released Jerusalemite activist Hanadi al-Halawani and handed her a notice banning her entry to the Aqsa Mosque for one week.
The banishment order against her could be extended for six months according to the police notice.
The police kidnaped Halawani in the morning near Bab Hitta one of the Aqsa Mosque’s gates.
Halawani was able to enter the Aqsa Mosque last December after she was arbitrarily banished from the holy site for six months.
Halawani is a noted Jerusalemite activist and one of the Aqsa Mosque teachers who are exposed to constant persecution by the Israeli police and intelligence.
Because of her supportive positions on the Aqsa Mosque she has been summoned arrested interrogated and assaulted by the Israeli police several times before. The police also banned her entry to the Mosque and her travel abroad many times.
Hanadi Halawani is one of many Jerusalemite women whose medical insurance has been revoked because of their activities in defense of the Aqsa Mosque.
