The Israeli occupation police on Saturday confiscated cleaning tools brought by al-Aqsa Society to clean up the Aqsa Mosque ahead of the holy month of Ramadan and to prepare the place for the “Jerusalem First” camp.
“The Israeli police have obstructed our work at the Jerusalem First camp prevented us from cleaning the Aqsa Mosque and its vicinity and confiscated several tools and materials for that purpose” director of al-Aqsa Society Safwat Farij told Quds Press.
Farij stated that his society for the ninth consecutive year brought volunteers aboard buses from the 1948 occupied lands to the Aqsa Mosque in full coordination with al-Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Authority in Jerusalem to carry out cleaning duties in preparation for the coming holy month of Ramadan.
He added that Israeli police forces at the Aqsa Mosque’s gates seized cleaning tools from the Palestinian volunteers before allowing them in affirming that they embarked on cleaning the holy site without those tools and despite their exposure to harassment by police officers.
