The Israeli police stormed on Monday evening al-Makassed hospital in Occupied Jerusalem seeking to detain a Palestinian who was being treated in the hospital after suffering injuries during clashes with the police.
Al-Makassed administration said in a statement that the Israeli police forces surrounded the hospital and started to scrutinize the IDs of the hospital’s employees and visitors.
It added that a number of Israeli officers stationed outside the intensive care unit where the injured Palestinian was held prevented his relatives from seeing him.
The hospital described the raid as a “grave violation” of the international laws and called on the International Committee of the Red Cross and the World Health Organization to intervene immediately to protect patients and medical staff and end “the chaos” caused by the Israeli police forces in the hospital.
